Deepavaii
is a festival of lights celebrated by Hindus and usually
held al the end of October or the beginning of November.
Thousands of flickering oil lamps are lit to denote
the triumph of good over evil as Rama returned after
his period of xile and to welcome Lakshmi, the goddess
of prosperity.
For the Muslim community, the ld-ul-Fitr marks the end
of Ramadan, a month's fasting from dawn til dusk when
the devout will not swallow anything- even their
own spittle.
