Thuparama


Considered one of the most outstanding achievements of the ancient Sinhala architects, the Thuparama covers an area of nearly three and half acres. The central tower and vaulted brick roof are in remarkable state of preservation. This was the first stupa to be built after Buddhism was introduced in to Sri Lanka in the 3rd century B.C. it enshrined the right collarbone of the Buddha.
