KALUTARA

Most or less synonymous with rush and reed ware , (try to visit the permanent exhibition in the town’s Basket Hall). Kalutara was also a famous spice-center in the 16th to 18th centuries . There are fine beaches , safe swimming ; this coast is excellent for water sports and there are several good ayurveda centers ,as well .Most travelers pause at the Gangathilake Vihare , on the main road , to make a small offering for a safe journey .
